Who Wants To Get In On This Hot NFL Bust Action?

Snead is going pro? hahahahahahahahahaha. good luck with that pick for whatever NFL team is dumb enough to draft him. i see an Oakland Raiders uniform in your future, young Snead.

actually it probably wasn't the worst move in the world. this is a pretty weak QB class overall and with Jake Locker coming back for one more year, Snead could end up being the 3rd QB taken behind Jimmy Clausen and Sam Bradford. either way Ole Miss is gonna be the suck next year. so much for the Rebels becoming the NEW BIG THREAT in the SEC West. hey Ryan Mallett, i think you should go pro too.

Reality Check

so with Chris Todd reverting back to the one armed guy who sucked from last year, a lot of Auburn fans on the web are calling for Neil Caudle to be named starter. i don't know if i need to mention this, but he barely beat out Tyrik Rollison for the backup spot...and that's only because the staff wanted to redshirt Rollison. i've seen Neil Caudle play in person in Spring games and in mop up duty...if there is one thing i've come to know about our boy Neil is that he loves to throw some motherfucking interceptions.

Auburn would be better off letting Kodi finish the year again than throwing Caudle out there to create turnovers. Kodi can throw interceptions, but he might just be able to beat a team with his legs like he almost did last year vs. UGA. or better yet, just fucking stick with Todd and hope he can get it back together. switching QBs didn't work last year...what the hell makes any of you think it's going to work this year?

and i don't wanna hear about all this loyalty horse shit and how Caudle was an Elite 11 QB recruit. the dude got hurt his senior year of highschool and hasn't played a meaningful snap since. he couldn't beat out Kodi Burns in the spring and Kodi can't hit water falling out of a fucking boat. he nearly got beat out by a true freshmen this year. if Barrett Trotter wasn't injured i have no doubt he'd be the backup. let's just face it, Caudle isn't any good...cuz if he was then he'd be the damn QB already.

stick with the fucking zombie Todd and let's hope the running game will be good enough to get us 2 more wins and then next season we start all over again.

POSITIVE VIBES FRIDAY 4 CHRIS TODD

i took a nap, i woke up, i checked all the blogs and noteworthy Auburn sites and Chris Todd IS ACTUALLY the Auburn QB and it wasn't a dream and Tony Franklin didn't secretly steal Gus Malzahn's identity. so that leaves me with no other choice....

(no, not a coup)

A LIFETIME OF DEFEATS FULLY ENDORSES THE 1 ARMED ZOMBIE CHRIS TODD FOR QB.

GO! FIGHT! WIN!

EAT BRAINS!!!

WAR EAGLE!!!

AWESOME

THIS is amazing.

thanks Plainsman Parking Lot for that serious LOL. i really wish i knew how to use photoshop, damnit.

What Burns Never Returns...

...yeah that's right i made a Don Caballero reference in regards to our former would-be QB savior. what, you weren't into late 90s post-rock?

2 seasons ago when Kodi Burns arrived at Auburn i had visions of Dameyune Craig, Micheal Bishop, Dennis Dixon, Pat White, Charlie Ward, & even Tommie Frazier dancing in my head. too bad Auburn doesn't run the old Nebraska option offense...Burns woulda been perfect for that. sadly for all the kids potential he was just never the #1 thing a QB needs to be....Consistent. i blame the constant changes in the offense more than anything, but at the end of the day the coaches didn't believe in him and so that was that.

Burns best quote about losing the job:
"I just told them that I love each and every one of them," he said. "We work together, we sweat together, we bleed together out there working out. I was the guy last year. And things change. Things change for the better most of the time. And things happen for a reason. Just like I said, Chris Todd is the quarterback and whether they wanted me or wanted another quarterback -- it doesn't matter. Chris is the guy. We have to get behind him. He's going to be a leader of this team. I'm also going to be a leader of this team as well."

word. i will be rooting for the kid...

and so it goes for Kodi Burns. welcome to the fantastic world of Auburn receivers.

video via The Goldmine.

Auburn names a starting QB

The Return Of The One-Armed Man

so at the end of last season, after the wheels completely fell off the Spread Eagle ,and all the blame had been spread around, and the tailspin of failure was completely out of control, and Kodi Burns was finally Auburn's starting QB because it was painfully obvious that he was the ONLY option...i would've never in a MILLION FUCKING YEARS guessed that Chris Todd would ever start another game for the Auburn Tigers. AND YET HE FUCKING LIVES!!!! and by that i mean that the Chizik has named Chris Todd as the Auburn starter for the 09 season opener vs. Louisiana Tech. WTF?!?!?!?!?!

if you asked me to bet on who was gonna win the starting job between Neil Caudle, Kodi Burns, Tyrik Rollison, and Chris Todd i would've picked Todd last. i mean Chris Fucking Todd?!?! are you serious?!?! i lost patience with that dude after the Vandy game. remember how that went down?

yeah just like that.

so yeah, Chris Todd. wrap your motherfucking mind around that shit if you haven't already blown it out of your fucking skull with a shotgun. Season of Death 2: The Re-Deathening should be hella rad, dude.

the battle for the back-up spot is between junior Neil Caudle and freshman Tyrik Rollison. and what about Kodi Burns? oh, he's now the WILDCAT QB and a wide receiver. he says he's not gonna transfer...probably cuz he figures if he can't beat out this collection of stiffs what chance does he have anywhere else? besides with the shitty state of Auburn's receiving corp i wouldn't be surprised if he ends up a starter. i really feel bad for Kodi, he never had a fucking chance. one assumes that if Rollison ends up being the backup then he's probably gonna be the starter at some point in the season whenever things go to shit and Auburn's just playing for 2010. i guess the coaches must just said, "Hey you know what would be really funny? we should take this offense that's supposed to be all about pace and the QB's ability to make plays and then just pick the slowest guy on the team and make him be the QB. you know the guy who drove all the fans nuts and who couldn't throw the ball more than 10 yards down the field. that would be the ultimate lulz."

so i say it one more time just so it sinks into that blackhole i call a brain: CHRIS TODD IS THE STARTING QB FOR AUBURN IN 2010.

Dear Chris Todd,

please be like Matt Ryan and make me eat a big shit sandwich. understand that it's not personal and i just like having shit to be angry about. i will root my ass off for you.

thanks

yr friend,

justin

oh yeah and some dude named Vick is an Eagle now

just as i was eating dinner and getting ready for band practice i heard the news: Mike Vick signed with the motherfucking Eagles. say what? yeah i'm sure this will work out fine. let's take Mike Vick who is a PR nightmare and stick his ass in a racist city like Philly with the biggest bunch of asshole fans in the country (outside of the Red Sox) and let's not forget that you've got a big sulking pussy named McNabb who is starting ahead of him and will no doubt get injured at some point this year and force Vick to have to start. FIREWORKS BABY, FIREWORKS!!!

ugggghhhh. December 6th when the Eagles come to Atlanta is going to be ugly. like in the most dumbass, annoying, and terrible kind of way.

THE SEC QB Situation...or Enter The World Of Suck

my scientific rankings of the QB situations in the SEC going into the 2009 Season.

1. Florida

obviously they've got Tebow so that means they are about 100,000 miles ahead of the next team.

2. Ole Miss

Jevan Snead is a solid college QB with some possible NFL 1st round ability. that about covers the sure things in the SEC this year.

3. Arkansas

Ryan Mallett was a 5 star QB who played a bit in Michigan's pro style offense his freshman season before deciding to get the hell out of town when RichRod and the Spread hit town. under Bobby Petrino Mallett could be scary. he's got the size and the arm strength to be a future 1st round pick. this is his first season in the SEC but his overall potential makes him worthy of the 3rd spot.

4. LSU

Jordan Jefferson looked pretty good at the end of the season. he's a good athlete and he's got some experience but Russel Sheppard is a five star talent that could totally steal his job away if Jefferson struggles this year. Jarrett Lee also still exists...which isn't really a good thing, unless you enjoy interceptions returned for touchdowns.

5. South Carolina

Stephen Garcia has thus far been a bit of a disappointment for the 'Cocks both on and off the field. he's the only 4 star talent the Ole' Ball Coach has had in Columbia and this is his 3rd year in the system...one would have to think Garcia well make some major improvements this season, or maybe he'll get arrested 2 weeks before the season starts and get kicked off the team. on a side note, i really wish he'd grow the locks back.

6. Georgia

UGA's QB situation is kinda similar to Stafford's freshman season. Joe Cox is a senior who has some playing experience (it was he that lead the comeback win over Colorado as a freshman...not Matt Stafford) plus the Dawgs have an athletic backup in Logan Gray and a couple of 4 star freshmen backing him up. i have a feeling that if Georgia struggles early we might see as many as 3 different starters for the Bulldogs. during the Richt era UGA has always had a solid enough starter, it's hard to imagine one of the 4 QBs won't emerge as pretty good college QB.

7. Kentucky

Mike Hartline and Randall Cobb are both Sophomores and they both played last season. Hartline's the passer and Cobb is the athlete. neither guy blew anyone's doors off, but Cobb gives the Wildcats the best chance to win.

8. Auburn

Kodi Burns was the definition of inconsistent...actually he was more the definition of useless for most of the season with a few flashes of brilliance. this is most likely his last chance. Neil Caudle has never started a game and doesn't have much playing experience. Chris Todd only has 1 arm...and it's not the one he throws with. and then everyone else is a freshman. who fucking knows what is gonna happen, hopefully the running game can cover their asses enough that none of this will matter.

9. Alabama

Greg McElroy has very little playing experience and a mostly new offensive line in front of him...not to mention he's shackled with that NUMBER 12 JERSEY. luckily Bama has a solid running game and some guy named Julio Jones for McElroy to throw to...that should be good enough to cover for him.

10. Mississippi State

Tyson Lee is a senior who started last season for the Bulldogs, but he's not athletic enough for Dan Mullen to run his offense properly and Mississippi State lacks any play makers to help him out.

11. Vanderbilt

no team won more games in spite of their QBs than Vandy. Mackenzi Adams looked like Jay Cutler vs. Auburn but was pretty shitty against the rest of the league. they've got some other dude too who started playing at the end of the season but i totally forgot his name...and there's probably some freshman who'll show up out of nowhere and take a few random snaps for no apparent reason. jesus, Vandy would be better off just playing defense the whole game.

12. Tennessee

Jonathan Crompton was probably the worst QB in the league last year and he still has his starting job and the Vols failed to recruit a freshman they could develop this season and insert if the offense is a total disaster again this year. Kiffin better learn to work miracles if he thinks Crompton is his guy.

Have Fun At The A-Day Game Tomorrow Kids

to everyone going to the A-Day game tomorrow...I AM JEALOUS. after sitting through the snorfest last Saturday here in Athens i was really looking forward to checking out my Auburn Tigers in action. instead i'll be stuck here in Athens forced to watch the game on CSS.

the buzzword for this year's Spring Game is INJURY. as in all the players are hurt. QB might be especially effected because apparently Barrett Trotter and Neil Caudle both got hurt in practice yesterday so it might be Kodi Burns getting to play ALL-TIME QB (a position that i ruled at as a kid when forced to play football with my little brother and all his friends. i assume that all my passing records still stand in the Evanston Neighborhood Football League...if anyone can verify this for me then let a brother know). i'd also assume that if Kodi is in fact the only QB that plays in the Spring Game then he's got be able to put some distance between himself at Neil Caudle, but that isn't likely to happen as Coach Chizik has already stated that Auburn doesn't plan to name a starter until the Fall...something that i am reading as: WE ARE WAITING UNTIL TYRIK ROLLISON GETS HERE AND HOPING HE CAN BEAT ALL THESE SCRUBS OUT.

apparently there's some walk-on kid named Brent Poole that might see some time at QB during the A-Day game as well. why not just throw Mario Fannin back there? i mean the kid is already playing everywhere else.

enjoy the game tomorrow if you are going, take some notes and feed me your opinions. you are my eyes and ears. War Eagle!

non Auburn related:

i've discovered a new blog to be obsessed with for a few weeks called Look At This Fucking Hipster, i'm also 100% sure that someone is going to post a picture of me on there as well.

and finally someone somewhere is making my dreams into reality.

have a good weekend.

Matt Stafford Is 100% More Likely To Be A Detriot Lion After They Saw This Footage

so former UGA quarterback and likely number 1 pick in the NFL draft was on Jimmy Fallon's crappy show last night and gave us an impressive display of his arm accuracy and plate breaking ability.

check it

so if this NFL thing doesn't work out for Stafford he could always have a career as a carny.

i honestly will root for this kid once he gets to the NFL...i only hate Georgia players while they are in college, once anybody from the SEC makes it into the NFL i am always a fan...other than Peyton, i don't root for frakking Cylons.

Poor Mitch Mustain

being a person who roots for a team that lacks any 5 star recruit QBs it saddens and confuses me to learn that former Arkansas and current USC QB, Mitch Mustain has lost out on becoming the Trojans next starting QB to a true freshman and a less regarded 4 star recruit. everyone in the SEC is aware of the soap opera that went down in Arkansas during Mustain's freshman year that resulted in current Auburn OC, Gus Malzahn, bolting for Tulsa and several of his former highschool players leaving Arkansas as well...it also put into motion Houston Nutt leaving the school for Ole Miss. if Mustain had stayed at Arkansas it's likely that Nutt would probably still be there too and Arkansas would be considered one of the favorite in the SEC west this year. i remember thinking "Why the fuck did he do that?" when Mustain picked USC as the school he was gonna transfer to. he was already behind Mark Sanchez (who should be a senior for the Trojans this year) and they had a 4 star recruit in Aaron Corp already enrolled. i mean, why the hell didn't he go to Tulsa and run up huge numbers in Malzahn's offense? or go to a school in the Big East or Big 10 devoid of any QB talent. i wonder if Mustain will transfer 1 last time in an attempt to get 1 year as a starter under his belt or if he'll just ride the pine at USC and hope that people think he's gonna be the next Matt Cassell? either way it's kind of amazing to see a guy who was considered 1 of the top 3 QB recruits in the nation (with Tebow and Stafford) now just burried on a depth chart. let that be a warning sign to all of you college football fans who are obsessed with recruiting rankings.

maybe he and Emmanuel Moody should get together and go to some DIAA school and improve both of their chances of getting to the NFL.

a random collection of thoughts and camera phone pictures from G Day 09

your friendly neighborhood Auburn blogger dressed in yellow because he pussed out and didn't wear Auburn gear. yes i always look like that. yes i always wear sunglasses.

First off it was a beautiful fucking day for some spring football. About 60 degrees, sunny, a little bit of wind, and perfect conditions. I can only hope it's like this next weekend at Auburn.

I really don't understand why ESPN chose to show the UGA spring game this year. It's not like Georgia is being thought of as a contender or anything...my only guess is that they plan on showing as many spring games as possible and the Dawgs were the only good candidates this weekend. Speaking of which, why the fuck does UGA think it's a good idea to have their Spring game during Master's weekend and during the Braves' first home opener? I mean it was an okay crowd, but there would've probably been about 20 thousand more people if they had it next weekend. Plus doing this Easter Weekend meant there were almost zero students at the game.

Thoughts about the actual game itself:
The Georgia QB situation doesn't look that much better than what Auburn has. Joe Cox is a noodle arm having Senior who I can't imagine holding on to the starting spot past the 1st two games. He had 1 good throw to AJ Green to start the game that my friend Jeff attributed to Green's ability to make Cox shitty throw seem like a good play by his superb athletic ability. Logan Gray didn't look any better, but the fact that he can run makes him seem like the lesser of two evils. Both of the true freshman were wildly inaccurate and Aaron Murray threw an ugly pick. So yeah...you can say that Stafford wasn't much of a leader all you want, but the Dawgs are gonna miss his ass.

The offense just looked awful in general...I mean either the defense got 80% better or the offense took a 50% slide down. None of the backs could do anything, the Qbs (like I said) were nothing to speak of, and the recievers were dropping everything. It was just an ugly performance all the way around. I know it's just a practice but all my Georgia loving friends seemed pretty down in the dumps about the Dawgs chances in 09.

the game was a series of turnovers and field goals and boring as hell.

The worst part of the day was when I thought I saw Erin Andrews and then raced down to the field for a better look only to discover it was just Wendy Nix. Booooooooo! Is that all we are good enough for ESPN? I guess if you only check her out from the back then Nix is packing a pretty cute ass...but come on, why can't you send a creepy blogger some Erin Andrews action to brighten up an otherwise dull Spring game? For shame Espn.

And so that was that. Next weekend I'll be in Auburn with my old man bitching and whining about the Tiger's team. holla at a brother if you gunna be there too. And pray it doesn't rain.

Peace Out, Jack Elway

so much for the 2nd coming of John Elway...his son Jack has decided to quit football, after redshirting for a year at Arizona State. he was only a 2 star recruit by ESPN treated his commitment to the Sun Devils like he was a 5 star on Rivals.

let this be a warning to UGA and Bama in their current quests to land Joe Montana's kid.

other than having a legup on most other normal kids, having a famous dad would probably suck.

Hey, what's that wacky kid Tyrik Rollison got to say?

Via Facebook:

"Tyrik Rollison is ready to start for Auburn."

So Kodi, Neil, etc... you guys are on notice. Tyrik is ready to snatch that job, and based on the things I've read about Spring ball would anyone be that surprised if Auburn ends up with a true freshman QB? It's a frightening prospect and it's the sort of move that signals you have kind of given up on your season, but then if you watched OSU's Terrell Pryor or Robert Griffin of Baylor play last year you know that sometimes it's just smarter to play your best athlete even if he's not 100% ready.

The Curse Of Elway

It's official. Denver is fucked. i wonder if they are starting to regret that whole firing Shanahan thing yet?

Have fun with Chris Simms.

i call bullshit on Jerry

Thanks to the Jay Cutler dramarama everyone is talking about places he might end up and I guess someone asked Jerry Jones if he'd consider trading Tony Romo for Cutler. Jones reply was that he wouldn't trade Tony Romo for ANYONE. Really?! I mean yeah I get that Jerry was just letting us all know that Tony has his faith and full support, but he'd either have to be totally insane or just fucking stupid to think that Romo is the best QB in the NFL and completely untradeable.

So here's my list of Qbs that you'd have to be an idiot not to trade Mr. I Can't Win In The Playoffs for.

1. Captain Dreamboat
2. Peyton
3. Big Ben
4. Drew Brees
5. McNabb
6. Philip Rivers
7. Matt Ryan (I can't believe how wrong I was about him)
8. Jay Cutler
9. Carson Palmer (when healthy i'd have him top 5)
10. Eli Manning
11. Kurt Warner (the only reason I have him this low is because of age, but even if he only gives me 2 years....that's 2 better years than Romo will ever have)

And there are a few guys that I think with more experience or with the talent that Dallas has are better Qb options than Tony like Aaron Rogers and Joe Flacco...but right now i'd take Romo over either of them.

And those are just Qbs that i'd rather have, I'm not even counting all the runningbacks, left tackles, linebackers, and defensive ends that are more valuable.

Denver Is Out Of Their Mind

so maybe i'm a little biased because i watched Jay Cutler take a Vanderbilt team with no talent and make them competitive...but seriously Denver is out of their fucking mind.

a list of teams that would cut off their left nut to have a QB with as much talent as Cutler.

1. Seahawks
2. 49ers
3. Rams
4. Raiders
5. Jets
6. Dolphins
7. Bills
8. Redskins (sorry Jason...it's true)
9. Eagles (only to have someone new to bitch about)
10. Titans
11. Jaguars
12. Texans
13. Bucs
14. Panthers
15. Vikings
16. Bears
17. Lions
And those are just the teams that would gladly swap out their QB for Cutler, that doesn't count the other Qbs that he's obviously better than like Brady Quinn, Aaron Rogers, and yes...Matt Cassel (aka the new Derek Anderson). Also if you asked a few Cowboys fans they'd probably rather have Cutler over Romo.

So that leaves the Manning Brothers, Big Ben, Rivers, Brady, Kurt Warner (whose almost finished with his career), Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and (if you're a rational Eagles fan) McNabb as list of QBs who are either better or just as good or have more upside. That's it. Like less than a dozen dudes...some of whom he's a better option than. It's a pretty short fucking list. If Cutler forces the Broncos to trade him away then they instantly become one of the top 5 worst teams in the NFL.

This is what Denver gets for hiring a Patriot.

Kodi Is Gonna Have To Earn It

i'm 100% okay with the news that the Auburn QB position is wide open. it would be stupid for Gus Malzahn not to make every player earn his starting job this spring. that being said, i'm still rooting for Kodi.

after i read some of Malzahn's comments about all of Auburn's qbs, i'm starting to think Neil Caudle (whom he said he knew very well & compared to Mitch Mustain) might actually be the guy he likes the best. how fuckin' crazy would that be? my biggest wonder is if Kodi lost his starting spot would he transfer? maybe take his redshirt? get ready for another fucking offseason of QB drama.

Who Wants To Be An Auburn QB? The 2009 Version.

Quarterback. it's the make or break it position in college football. no team without one has a realistic chance of winning a title. it could be argued that there isn't a more important position in the world of sports, Pro or College. sadly Auburn has been without a truly great one since Stan White. as much talent as Jason Campbell had, he really only shined his senior year. Dameyune Craig was the last play maker we had at the position...but that never resulted in any titles. timing is a bitch. if Auburn is ever going to win another SEC title again then someone has to step up at this position and become and leader and a winner.

but does Auburn even have a guy on the team right now who can be that guy? hell, they don't even really know who their starter is going to be next year.

Kodi Burns would of course be the early leader in the clubhouse to be the starter in 09, but he hasn't exactly been the model of consistency when he has been given the opportunity to play. one would argue that Kodi should have been redshirted his freshman year and never been forced onto the field in 07 thereby wasting a year of his eligibility, that same line of thought would also tell you that you should probably cut the kid some slack when Tony Franklin did everything he could to push Chris Todd as the guy last year...hurting Kodi's confidence and never giving him much of a chance to succeed. once Franklin was shuffled out the door the offense turned into a flaming pile of dogshit and despite Burns best efforts (he did show us something against Ole Miss and UGA) it just wasn't happening. hell, not even Sam Bradford could've made the grab bag of garbage go at the end of the year.

when i look at the kid i am reminded of two other QBs by the names of Dennis Dixon and Jason Campbell who had their talents wasted for 3 seasons before the light clicked on for each of them and they emerged as stars. i'm holding out hope that Burns will have the same sort of transformation under Gus Malzhan that Jason Campbell did under Al Borges and i think most positive Tigers fans feel the same way.

of course if you ever head on over to trackemtigers.com and wait for any post about the QB position or the offense in general you'll get a quick dose of Kodi haters who'll be quick to point out that Burns sucks and that's he's stupid. whenever i see people making judgements about the intelligence of a young QB who happens to be black the racism alarm goes off in my brain. it can't be helped. i grew up in the South, i know how people think and i hear what they say when they think they can get away with it. when a white QB struggles you would often hear a number of accusations thrown his way, rarely are they ever about his mental capacity. i mean i called Brandon Cox all sorts of unflattering things...but i never said he was a dumbass.

regardless as to which side you stand on the Kodi debate, he's still the teams best option for next season and so i'd be surprised if he wasn't the starter next year. honestly i'd just like to see what the guy can do if he doesn't have to worry about looking over his shoulder.

of course that's probably too much to hope for. there are just too many damn QBs on the roster right now for there not to be an open competition in the Spring. so who's Kodi's biggest challenger?

Chris Todd

Chris Todd came to the Plains last year after being hand selected by Tony Franklin to run the Spread Eagle. after both he and Burns played each other to a virtual tie in Spring ball, noone emerged as a favorite...so instead we got Co-QBs...but once Kodi was injured Franklin used this opportunity to push Todd into the starting role. sadly Todd had zero arm strength and even less mobility and it was kinda like watching Brandon Cox run the spread if Brandon didn't have any of his guts and leadership ability. after the season completely fell into the ocean Todd was benched and Burns was made the starter. Chris Todd had another shoulder surgery this offseason but it remains to be seen if he'll actually be able to take any snaps and compete for the job in the Spring. honestly i feel bad for the guy, but he'd probably best be served by transferring to a D-II school and just saving us all the trouble.

Neil Caudle

Neil Caudle was a Rivals & Scout 4 Star recruit, an EA Sports Elite 11 QB, and was seen as the heir apparent to Brandon Cox back in 2006...sadly the kid has never risen higher than 3rd on the depth charts. he's dealt with a number of injury issues all the way back to highschool that have pretty much killed his development, plus he was recruited to run Al Borges' West Coast offense and Auburn has obviously gone in a different direction. Caudle does have a good arm and some athletic ability...or at least that's what i thought when i watched him in last year's A-Day game and in the limited action he saw during the homecoming game last year. the biggest knock on Neil is that he loves to throw some interceptions (but hey, what Auburn QB doesn't?) i'm really surprised that he hasn't transferred to a different school already...he must just like Auburn a lot. i just don't ever see him getting a shot unless injuries are what put him on the field. for a kid who was recruited by Michigan, Louisville, Miami, and LSU you would have assumed that he'd have been a star at Auburn. this is why getting too excited about recruiting rankings is a bad idea.

Barrett Trotter

the strongest challenger to Burns comes in the form of a lightly recruited redshirt fresman by the name of Barrett Trotter. last year during the Season Of Death, Tuberville strongly considered burning Trotter's redshirt and starting him against West Virginia...or at least he talked about it. that never happened, but ever since the Kodi haters have looked towards Barrett as their savior of the program. as the old saying goes, nobody is more popular than the backup quarterback. honestly i don't have any real opinions about Trotter as a player as i haven't ever seen him play...nor have most Auburn fans. what i do know is that he was a 3 star recruit (#46 rated QB in the nation by Scout) who had offers from Duke, Army, UAB, and Troy. when Auburn signed him i sorta just shrugged my shoulders and figured he'd be a career backup. he's a small guy at 6 foot 1 and 192 pounds, so it's not like he's got NFL size or anything. he had really great stats in highschool but then again so did all these other guys. i honestly think all the love being thrown Trotter's way is mostly just coming from the hope that he has to be better than Burns. i honestly don't believe it...but hey, i don't really know anything about the kid.

Tyrik Rollinson

the current leader in the FUTURE SAVIOR OF AUBURN FOOTBALL comes in the form of our new recruit Mr. Tyrik Rollinson. he's the nation's number 2 dual threat prospect and comes from that great QB producing state of Texas. he's got eye popping numbers and seems custom built for Auburn's new offense. sadly he seems to have spent more time being awesome at football and less time doing his school work and there may be some issues with him qualifying. DANGER, WILL ROBINSON! assuming Rollinson does get into school there's going to be a pretty strong cry from some fans to get this kid on the field sooner instead of later, hell if you give me too many beers on a gameday that sees Auburn doing their typical FAILjob then i might be one of those idiots as well. honestly if Rollinson is the best QB then i'm ok with him starting but really i'd be a lot happier with him redshirting for a year and then competing for the job in 2010...or better yet being the starter in 2011. i mean he HE DOES HAVE A REALLY AWESOME HAIRCUT....but really i'd rather just not worry about us throwing another true freshman who isn't ready to the hungry wolfpacks of the SEC, if that's okay with you.

Clint Moseley

our final contestant in WHO WANTS TO BE AN AUBURN QB? would be in the form of our other new recruit, Clint Moseley. Moseley was MR. ALABAMA Football this season which is pretty fucking awesome for a guy who played at a tiny ass little school. he won 3 straight state titles as a starter and he's got winner written all over him. he's also got 3 stars attached to his Rivals profile and was most likely gonna go to South Alabama before Auburn came along and gave him a scholarship. if Moseley takes any snaps this season then it'll be because everyone else is either injured, dead, or missing. my most hopeful scenario for Moseley is that he redshirts and then is the backup for Rollinson until Tyrik wins Auburn a national title in his Junior year and then rides off into the sun for the NFL millions, leaving Moseley as the starter in his final season which also ends in a title...or something. hey, i can dream right?

so yeah, those are my thoughts. just MY thoughts. i don't really know what the fuck i am talking about and i don't really even have a point other than Kodi Burns still seems like the best option to me until someone proves me otherwise.

who are you rooting for in the QB crapshoot?
