take that statement as a joke. i would never actually wish death and destruction on a city, even one as shitty as New Orleans. aka the most overrated city in america. what you can't get drunk in your own town?
anyways the loss last night was sort of a sickening one. Mike Smith made poor choices and left me feeling like there is no way that guy can win a Super Bowl. Michael Turner ran like shit and makes me wonder if the Falcons should dump him in the offseason and find a pair of younger legs. Matt Ryan tried to do everything and got very little help from anyone not named Roddy White. the Falcons #1 draft priority needs to be a fucking WR...that was painfully obvious when Michael Jenkins is dropping passes that hit him in the arms when he's wide fucking open. the mystique of the Georgia Dome is all but gone. Atlanta should be able to wrap up homefield by beating the Panthers on Sunday (never a given no matter how shitty they look) but do you really feel as confidant that Atlanta can defend the Dome should they have to face the Packers or Saints in a few weeks? i don't.
in other words: I AM IN PANIC MODE!!!!!
the defense played well and i think are still the most underrated unit in the NFL. holding Drew Brees to 17 points should be enough, it was the offense that lost that fucking game. hopefully Atlanta can lay a nice asswhipping on Carolina and get some of their swagger back because after the game last night i don't think anyone believes the Falcons are the best team in the NFC anymore.

it's not thanksgiving unless the Lions lose.
For all my bitching and complaining about why being a Falcons fan sucks , I must take this time of the year to be be thankful I wasn't born a Lions fan. What a fucking bummer it must be to have your franchise get it's ass kicked for all the nation to see on a yearly basis. I'd like to think Stafford, Johnson, and Suh are gonna turn things around in the Motor City but that's probably wishful thinking.

This Is Not Going To End Well

being someone who has suffered from depression most of his adult life i get rather annoyed when i watch the ESPN talking heads rail on Vince Young and his lack of maturity and his lack of mental toughness. i think it's pretty obvious that the dude suffers from some form of depression and yet the NFL (like most super macho things) doesn't confront problems like that and instead wants to label the guy a quitter. dude needs to get help, not have his coach throw him under the bus constantly.
on a related note, Why the fuck is Jeff Fisher considered some untouchable among the NFL coaches? the Titans have been to 1 Super Bowl over a decade ago and never really been consistent playoff team ever. the fact that his ass isn't on the hotseat is sort of bullshit. if i was the Titans owner i'd be getting rid of Fisher and not Vince after this season.

I also root for the Falcons, so at least i've got that going for me.

lost in my glee (which has now turned into panic and dread) about the 2010 Auburn Tigers is the fact my Atlanta Falcons are also in first place and looking like a real Super Bowl contender. with Atlanta taking care of Tampa Bay and giving themselves a little breathing room...not to mention the fact the 3 toughest games on their schedule (Ravens, Packers, Saints) are ALL at home. at 6-2, it's hard to imagine that Atlanta finishes worse then 10-6 with a wild card spot...but with games against the Rams, Seahawks, Panthers (twice) and those home games (where the Falcons have been nearly unbeatable) 12-4/ the divsion title/ and a 1st round bye is a very real chance. hell, 12-4 might just get you best record in the NFC this year...and if Atlanta wants to make it to the Super Bowl then they NEED homefield advantage. there's no way i want to see Atlanta taking a trip to New York or Philly for the NFC title game, because that sort of thing normally ends ugly for the Dirty Birds.
at the beginning of the year i thought Atlanta would win the division...but my optimism usually turns to shit once i see the Falcons play a few times. i thought losing to the Steelers in overtime (minus Rapey Cocklessburger) was a sign of bad things to come, but the Birds have been pretty solid ever since. the sluggish game vs the 49ers and the ass kicking by the Eagles aside, this team looks just as Super Bowl ready as anyone else in the NFC. they've got an elite wide receiver, a great tandem of running backs, a good/tough offensive line, a defense that can get after the QB, and Matt Ryan, although not putting up the MVP type numbers i was hoping for) is a solid quarterback.
a little bit more about Matt Ryan. my belief that he was going to be the next guy to join the elite ranks of NFL QBs had died down a good bit, i'm more of the opinion now that he's better than MOST starters in the NFL. if i'm giving him a fair ranking then i'd put him around number 10 in the league, right now. Peyton, Brady, Brees, Big Ben, and Rivers being those 5 elite guys, Rodgers, Schaub, Flacco, Sanchez, and Eli being all closer to his level...and if i'm being totally honest, i think i'd take Ryan over any of those next level guys (besides maybe Rodgers).

Who had time to burn a Quran this weekend with all that awesome football?

the best thing about the opening Sunday of the 2010 NFL season were those Ray Lewis Old Spice Commercials.
some other shit we learned:
Arian Foster is apparently a better NFL runningback than he was at Tennessee.
Darren McFadden CAN put up descent numbers for your fantasy football team as long as he's on your bench.
Vince Young is a better QB than any of the other guys drafted the same year as him.
No matter how much i want to believe in the Falcons, there only true purpose on Earth is to make me suffer.
Even when the Lions really win, they still end up with a loss.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Mike Williams is alive and scoring touchdowns in the NFL?!!?
That dog killer can still play some football, a little bit. (on a side note, how sick are you gonna be of hearing about the Quarterback controversy in Philly that ESPN is gonna ram down our throats all fucking season?)
Tony Romo is still overrated.
Thank Odin, God, and Allah that the NFL has returned.

my vintage 1986 NFL Pro Bowl t-shirt. who owns a fucking Pro Bowl t-shirt? apparently this asshole does.
5 predictions for the NFL Season (that have nothing to do with the Falcons)
1. The Houston Texans will finally unseat the Colts in the AFC South
2. The Raiders will win 8 games.
3. Brett Favre will get hurt and actually miss a game this year, snapping his streak.
4. CJ Spiller is gonna win the NFL Rookie of the Year.
5. The Jets are NOT going to make it to the Super Bowl

My 5 Overly High Expections for the Atlanta Falcons
1. 11-5 regular season and the NFC West crown. a 1-1 split with the Saints but beats them on Monday Night Football near the end of the year to clinch the division.
2. Matt Ryan finished with 30 TD passes and over 3,300 yards passing. establishes himself as one of the elite QBs in the league and finishes in the top 3 for MVP voting. named to Pro Bowl.
3. Michael Turner returns to 2008 form and challenges Purple Jesus and Chris Johnson for the rushing title.
4. a deep playoff run and a loss in the NFC title game to Greenbay or Dallas.
5. 3 straight winning seasons and the sky is the limit for this team. Atlanta is now one of the contenders for the 2012 Super Bowl.
i'd also be happy with 10-6 and a Wildcard, just as long as the Falcons beat a team or two in the playoffs.

actually. i will admit. i am not ready for some football.

is this the least excited you've ever been at the start of a football season or is it just me? and i actually have expectations for both the Falcons and Auburn. who knows. maybe it's the Braves fault. i've been watching too much damn baseball.

I Can't Believe I Watched The Entire 4th-7th rounds
RANDOM POST DRAFT THOUGHTS
-if you need another reason to pile on the "Tuberville can go fuck himself" bandwagon, only 2 fucking players getting drafted is all you need to say about the talent gap that was facing the 2008/2009 Tigers vs LSU, Bama, and the Floridas of the SEC. Hell Kentucky sent more players to the league this year. Auburn had the same number of players get drafted as fucking Vandy! I guess it should be no real shocker that those two teams beat us the last 2 years.
-that being said, how does Antonio Coleman go undrafted? Seriously. There were some pointless reaches in the 7th round on QBs who will never see a fucking snap in the NFL and a guy like Coleman who was an All-SEC player ends up as an undrafted free agent pick up for someone's practice squad? Ugggh.
-speaking of pointless draft picks and QBs...Jonathan Crompton was drafted!!! Are you people on crack? The guy was easily one of the worst QBs in the conference who was able to pad his stats against bad teams at the end of the year. Just further proof that noone in the NFL is watching college football.
-on the QBs who should've never left school front, Jevan Sneed...dude, what the hell were you thinking? There's nothing worse than being an undrafted underclassmen. Remember when Todd McShay said he would be a 1st round pick? Seriously how is that guy anymore qualified to spout bullshit on tv than you or me are?
-Mel Kiper wants to eat McShay's soul.
-the Falcons put together the most boring collection of "who the fuck are these guys?" That I can remember in years. Goddamn guys but this draft class fucking sucks. Way to fire up the fanbase. You could've at least drafted a Jonathan Dwyer for the hometown folks. Fucking Falcons.
-watching Jimmy Clausen's free fall was by far the most entertaining this about this year's draft. Hating Notre Dame will never be out of style.
-with Clausen and Josh Freeman in the NFC South I kind of feel like it's Atlanta and New Orleans division to duke it out for every year for the forseeable future.
-moving the draft to Thursday sucked...not so much for the 1st round but for the 2nd and 3rd rounds of Friday night. What kind of a dork sat at home on a Friday night and watched the draft? Friday nights are for nerd shut ins who watch sci fi shows. Duh.

Josh McDaniels' Secret Revenge Plot to Destroy The Broncos

So is it just me or do you ever get the feeling that Josh McDaniels is secretly involving himself in a drawnout revenge plot against the Denver Broncos? Like maybe he's secretly a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan who never got over getting beaten by those Elway teams back in the 80s (like most Browns fans haven't...that was your best team ever) and so McDaniels worked hard and became a hotshot offensive coordinator so he'd one day be able become Denver's headcoach and then slowly but surely would trade away their two best players in Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshal and then shockingly draft Tim "I love jesus a lot but can't really throw a football properly" Tebow to sink the franchise into the sort of misery that only the Browns and Lions can understand. Maybe I'm wrong...but it's my theory. Call me nuts but It honestly makes way more sense than what is going on.

Wow, i am actually excited about this Super Bowl
First of all, this is the first time in years that I can actually say I am excited about this Super Bowl matchup. The two best QBs in the NFL, two explosive offenses, two teams I don't loathe, a 1 seed vs a 1 seed (when was the last time that actually happened?), and no New York Jets.
Thanks Peyton for putting me out of my misery. Having to watch the Jets play football brings back too many frustrating memories of watching boring Auburn teams who played great defense and had a useless QB win games. That shit is fine for college football but I wanna see some fucking offense in the NFL. Plus Mark Sanchez would have replaced Trent Dilfer as most undeserving Super Bowl QB....and I want Dilfer to wear his crown forever.
About the Vikings/Saints game: blah blah blah, bad call, blah blah blah, NFL overtime sucks, cry, cry, whine, bitch... dude the Vikings turned the ball over 80 fucking times. They didn't deserve to win that game. Plus would a douche like Favre actually getting what he wanted actually have made you feel good? Fuck him. I'd rather root for Drew Brees anyday.
And that takes us to who I will be rooting for in the Super Bowl....Go Saints! I have no great hatred for the Manningbot. He is the greatest QB of all time (as long as he's not facing a strong 3-4 defense) but as a supporter of my own long suffering NFL franchise I am obligied to root for a team who has never won over a team that gets plenty of love and attention from the league. Besides, in New Orleans can win a championship it makes me believe the Falcons might actually pull it off someday as well.
But really I just wanna see a good game.

Dear Peyton,
Please do us all a favor and not pull your usual chokejob in the playoffs and beat the fucking Jets so that I no longer have to watch their boring asses anymore. Please.
Thanks

Well Now I Know Who I Hope Wins the Superbowl
you know, this year i really haven't been rooting for a single team in these playoffs. it's so far been about which team i hate the most that i want to lose, more than who i actually would like to see win....but then someone sent me this video today and i think i've settled on who i wanna see win that Superbowl trophy.
Go Chargers.
Go Chargers.

It'll Be Okay Tom...
sure Tom Brady just got his ass murdered by the Baltimore Ravens and had his team's corpse dumped in an abandoned building somewhere....but at the end of the day he is still going home to this:
Dallas Finally Figures Out How To Win a Playoff Game
it should have been so fucking obvious all this time to Jerry, all you have to do is get the Nuge to play "the National Anthem" and there's no way you could possibly lose a game.

uggh. a Cowboys victory means i have to hear about those assholes for another week. although, minus Romo, this is the least hateable Cowboys team i can ever remember. Demarcus Ware, Felix Jones, Jason Whitten, Miles Austin...those guys are all pretty rad. and there was a plus, they crushed the stupid ass Eagles (the team i hate even more than Dallas) and sent crybaby Donovan and that dog killing cocksucker backup QB home. so yeah, way to go Dallas. now lose next week.

also the conversation these two had probably wasn't too far off of this.

How the fuck are you gonna Win Forever in Seatle?

don't go Pete! it's fun having you in college football stealing all the recruits away from everyone else in the Pac 10.
if Pete Carroll is really leaving LA for the Seatle fucking Seahawks then USC must about to be going on some serious probation. why else the hell would you leave THE BEST JOB (yeah, it's better than Florida and Texas cuz you get to live in LA and Win Forever) in all of football? 7 million a year is a lot of cash, but seriously why would anybody wanna deal with that meatgrinder when you could live it up in the sun?
prediction: if Pete does go pro, Matt Leinart will be trying to get his agent to get him out of Arizona and into the Northwest....probably unlikely cuz it's a division rival, but still i could see it happening. also wanna bet the Saints might be willing to trade Reggie for a draft pick?
also who would replace Carroll at USC if they aren't on probation? Kiffin would be probably a stretch after just one year on the job...but it wouldn't shock me. my guess would be another former NFL coach like John Gruden...which would make me kinda sad since i think he's pretty good on MNF.
who would've guessed a year ago that Urban Meyer would retire/not retire and that Texas Tech, South Florida, and USC would all be lookin' for new coaches this offseason?
