why aren't the teabaggers protesting the World Cup?

So ESPN 's ratings for the World Cup are up like 50% or some shit like that. You know what that means? There are a shitload more illegal immigrants in this country than there were 4 years ago. Glenn Beck, why the fuck isn't your crazy ass all over this?

Enemy of the State

don't let the lack of browness fool you. he's a foreigner. Arizona police will be arresting Steve Nash and shipping his ass back to Canada for stealing American jobs with the quickness.

(all rants should be directed to my "who gives a fuck what you think?" box. even my republican friends think that bill is racist as shit.)

Rams In Danger Of Becoming Least Likeable Franchise In All Of Sports

Not that i really needed a reason to start hating the St. Louis Rams or anything... but it's safe to say if noted drug addict/Sore loser/Traitor to the Spirit of America/cock goblin, Rush Limbaugh, really does buy them then i might have a new least favorite team in the NFL to root against.

chances the Rams ever have a black QB in the future...less than .05%.

Tebow in 2024

Who the fuck didn't see this coming?

considering most experts don't think Tebow has much of a shot being an NFL QB, wouldn't it make more sense for the kid to go into the world of politics? when i heard Timmy give his Heisman speech i knew then and there that he would at least be the future Governor of Florida some day. sounds like Limbaugh and co. wanna groom him for something bigger.

Sorry GOP, Tebow was born in the Philippines...so i'm pretty sure he isn't eligible.

Obama's Bracket

so Barry thinks it's UNC all the way. the President seems just as clueless about this year's tournament as i do. he must be distracted or something.

My New Horror Movie Script...

...is about an unstoppable Zombie Ronald Reagan returning to wreak havoc on the Democratic controlled government. it's called Ronald Reagan Uber Alles. it'll have a really great 80s punk rock soundtrack. it's not nearly as awesome as my Civil War themed zombie movie, The South Rises which will of course be followed up by The South Rises...Again! hey man, they've gotta at least be better than a remake of another 70s/80s horror movie classic.

Dear Obama, when do we get our playoff?

i know you've been the President for less than 3 hours and you've got that whole economic meltdown and 2 wars and health care that you wanna tackle, but really...when do we get our College Football playoff? seriously you can accomplish nothing your first year in office and i'll still love you as long as you can get a playoff for College Football.

my plan involves 16 teams, just like in what used to be Division I-AA, the tournament would feature four rounds with teams seeded one through 16....every conference champion plus 5 at large teams. there would be no limit to only 2 teams from a conference. if their are 3 or 4 worthy teams from the SEC or Big 12 then they all get in based on their rankings in the BCS. the higher seeds host playoff games until we get down to a final two who will then face off on a neutral field.

this season the tournament would have been seeded something like this.
1. Oklahoma
vs.
16. Buffalo

2. Florida
vs.
15. Troy

3. Texas
vs.
14. ECU

4. USC
vs.
13. TCU

5. Alabama
vs.
12. Cincinnati

6. Utah
vs.
11. Ohio State

7. Texas Tech
vs.
10. Virginia Tech

8. Penn State
vs.
9. Boise State

what about the bowls? fuck em. most of the bowl games suck anyways. the Bowls can be the NIT for all the teams who don't make the 16 team tournament.

some people will try and argue that this takes away from the college football regular season. to those people i call bullshit. with only 2 spots up for grab in the current system most teams seasons are over before the season begins, for the rest it's over after 1 or 2 losses. with a 16 team playoff the MAC championship game becomes more than just a Thursday night distraction, when Ball State lost to Buffalo they'd really have something to lose more than an undefeated record. a team like Oregon who struggles at the beginning of the year but gets hot down the stretch can become a title contender. and most importantly of all no one who goes undefeated won't ever get a chance to prove their worth against the rest of the college football elite.

4 teams isn't enough. 8 teams still leaves too much room for schools like Boise State and Utah to get screwed over. it's 16 teams or it's nothing at all. if we shorten the season back to 11 games and start the season a week earlier then college football would be able to wrap up the entire regular season by Thanksgiving then have the conference championship games the next week. all conferences would be required to have a conference title game. then the next week the playoff would start. 16 games would be the most a team would ever be required to play.

some people would hate this format. Vegas would make a killing. the presidents would never go for it and the bowls would all suffer. but the truth is that noone could argue anymore about who the true National Champion was ever again...and in the end that's all i fucking care about anyways.

whatever. it's never gonna happen.

Is It Really Over?!

has it really been 8 years? i feel so old. so long douchebags. thanks for all the war and poverty and stuff.

Change

more Turner Gill love from Auburn fans...

i think lost in the "Oh god, we need a new coach who can compete with Saban" panic is the fact that if Turner Gill really does become Auburn's next football coach it would have some underlying social relevance that out ways even the fact that the guy is a pretty great coach. he'd be the first black head football coach of a major university in the state of Alabama.

just think about that. it kind of blows your mind if you consider how racially charged that state has historically been. granted Croom getting hired at Mississippi State is just as relevant, but there's something that always stands out in my mind about Alabama's roll in the civil rights movement that far exceeds Mississippi's.

i'm no bleeding heart liberal (although i am a Democrat), but i have lived the majority of my life in the South and have spent a lot of time in the state of my birth and i don't think i EVER believed that either Auburn or Alabama would ever have a black head coach. honestly i thought there was a better chance of a black man becoming president...oh wait, that DID happen.

anyways, i wasn't trying to get all political or socially conscious or anything. i was just thinking it might be pretty fucking cool if Auburn embraced a little Change.

Obama Wants A Playoff.

i mean i was already voting for the guy anyways, but he put that final little touch on it for me last night for his support of a College Football Playoff.

when you get in the White House you need to use your power to first and foremost fix College Football...then you can worry about all that other crap.

i wonder how many 1 issue voters there are out there who this would sway? my hope is zero.....but America is full of idiots, so you never know.

seriously though, i don't care who you are voting for. just make sure you vote today. it took me a little less than an hour to vote this morning and there were even a couple of Georgia football players in line with me. who knew they let those kids leave the practice field long enough to do things like vote?

I Was Really Waiting For Monday Night Football to Decide Who I Was Voting For

TONIGHT! Monday Night Football! the battle royale!

vs.

and this fucking guy thrown in for good measure.

seriously who thought it was a good idea to let Chris Berman interview McCain and Obama? i wonder if he'll have annoying knicknames for them both? dear god, help us all.

Why You Gotta Ruin My College Football With All This Political Shit?

this really comes as no big shock to me as i have been living in the South my entire adult life, but i think i may be one of about 25 SEC football fans that are actually gonna vote for Obama. the amount of venom being directed at Barack on all my favorite college football blogs is more bitter and hateful than even an Auburn vs. Alabama post.

honestly i could care less who you are voting for. it's not relevant to me when i'm talking about football. we can just agree to disagree and move on from there. just get your damn bitter political rants outta my college football posts douchebags.

...a perfect illustration of why i am not like my fellow Auburn fans

sometimes i think i may be the only Southern football fan in the country who isn't a jackass.

is College Gameday really the place for politics?

this is a nice little reminder of why i choose to live in Athens, Georgia despite being forced to live among the Bulldogs.

Public Service Announcement

so my liberal friends, who don't watch football, over at kindercore records (the label that never paid me) are trying to help Obama get elected. if you are interested in helping the cause and getting a hip t-shirt out of it then you should check out Obamarad.com

Redneckedness Is All Around Us

this picture was taken outside of Sam's in Athens (which is about as liberal as a town can actually be in the South and still be considered Southern). now at first i was hoping that the NOBAMA was an anti-Crimson Tide statement, but i'm leaning a little more towards anti-Obama with this one. i don't wanna be all political or anything, but seriously...do you really think this is honoring the troops or the people who died in 9/11?

Obamarama

alright, so Obama is the nominee and Hill C. is left hoping she gets asked to the prom by our soon to be Muslim President Overlord (at least that's what all the jackasses i work with think of him). let's hurry up and get this bullshit over with asap so i can concentrate on the important things like football.
