it's Championship week. aka the first time of the year that i really start paying attention to college basketball...which is sadly just so that i can fall in love with random ACC/BIG East team that did surprisingly well in their own conference tournament and then i decide to put them in the elite 8 in my bracket (even though they'll more likely get beaten in the 2nd round) and so i can figure out which of the mid major teams is gonna beat Duke.
our Hero's the Auburn Tigers are right now on the outside looking in. the Car Wash breaks down The Tigers chances as an at-large team. i'll simplify it for you...slim and none. but Pat Forde actually likes Auburn's chances of making the tournament because they are the hottest team in a mediocre league and calls a potential showdown in the SEC tourney between the Gators as an elimination game for both teams. Auburn has already beaten LSU and Tennessee (aka the 2 best teams in the SEC) so i have some faith. but if i was gonna throw down some money i would pick Vanderbilt to win the SEC tournament and get that automatic bid while the Vols and Bayou Bengals get the at large spots. if more than 3 SEC teams get invited to the dance then i would be shocked. but hey, it might actually get me to watch the NIT. so yeah, i ain't holding my breath. but that still shouldn't stop anyone from following Journey's advice.
it's spring break in Athens this week. the kids are gone, which means all the bars are empty and we can go out and enjoy some college basketball and not have to wait for a drink.
