Andrew WK likes to Party Hard and also apparently blow stuff the hell up with 10 year olds. he has a new kid's show on Cartoon Network where he helps kids build stuff and then destory it. FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!
i wanna be on this show.
random true story: many years ago while my band was on tour we played this show somewhere in Virginia (sorry i forgot the exact town...hell i could even be wrong about the state) and it was a pretty lame show, but we ended up going to some house party with these kids we met at the show. the house was packed, but kind of lame and i'm pretty sure they were listening to like Belle & Sebastian or something of equal non-partiness. then one of the kids at the house asked us to DJ so that people would dance. instead we took out the Andrew WK CD and put it on the stereo and within 2 minutes of the opening track "It's Time To Party!" beer was flying in the air, a mosh pit broke out in the living room, someone tore down all the curtains, and a table got smashed in half. then the cops showed up. so yeah, Andrew WK kinda rules.
right after letting Tom Glavine go the Atlanta Braves made a huge trade and acquired Pirates outfielder Nate McLouth. and all they had to give up is minor league prospects, outfielder Gorkys Hernandez and pitcher Charlie Morton...neither of who were likely to join the club this season. i'm not even gonna pretend i know much about McLouth but i do know he won a Gold Glove last season. he was also an All Star last year for Pittsburgh and i do remember the awesome throw he made in the 10th get out the potential game winning run. he lead the NL in doubles last season and he's 57 for 62 in steals...so he adds an instand speed threat and a legit leadoff man to the Braves lineup. he's also got some power with 9 homers this season (more than anyone on Atlanta) and a .470 slugging %. best of all he's only 27 years old and he's just beginning a 4 year deal, so no need to worry about him leaving town via free agency next season. besides bringing in Derek Lowe, this is the best move the Braves have made this season. now if only they could get rid of Francoeur.... but seriously with Mclouth hitting leadoff and Escobar 2nd, Atlanta finally has some guys for Chipper and McCann to drive in.
even bigger news to me is the fact that Atlanta is moving Kris Medlen into the bullpen and calling up Mr. Future Cy Young winner Tommy Hanson to make his major league debut on Saturday. this is some exciting shit! The Braves haven'y had a pitching prospect this well thought of in years and he should be able to sure up that final rotation spot giving Atlanta 5 dependable and respectable starters and some more strength in the pen with Medlen moving back. the biggest question is what to do with Tim Hudson when he comes back...but i guess that's a problem worth having.
with this new and improved lineup and the solid staff i don't see why Atlanta can't win the division or at least get a Wild Card. just when i give the Braves up for dead they suck me back again. yay BASEBALL interest! something to do while i wait for Fall.
first things first, a big tall glass of "shut the hell up" for Mack Brown. we all know Texas got screwed, but listening to you bitch about it is bringing back memories of Tuberville's 2005 season-long BCS whinefest (not the man's finest hour) that had even me starting to not give a shit that Auburn was left out of the title game in 04. maybe if Brown had spent less time shilling for votes and more time game planning then Texas might have blown out the Buckeyes and he'd have a leg to stand on. but when it takes you a last second miracle to beat a team that got slaughtered by USC (who then in turn slaughtered the other team that beat Ohio State)...well you are only making a case for the Trojans claim to a split title.
secondly a big bag of dicks to choke on for you, me, and everyone we know for saying the Buckeyes didn't have a chance and that Boise State was more deserving of this at large bid. when Texas went up by 2 scores we all said "this shit is over" but Ohio State didn't lie down and die (probably because Texas ain't in the SEC) and made one of the best comebacks i've ever seen in a BCS bowl. hell they even pulled Todd Boeckman outta their ass to exploit that weak sister of a Texas pass defense. when The Buckeyes took the lead with a little more than 2 minutes left to play even i was rooting for them. but it was for not...
...because Colt McCoy, scourge of the varmint world, would not be denied his attempt to overthrow Vince Young as the KING OF TEXAS. that final touchdown pass to Cosby was a thing of beauty and capped off the best 2nd half of a football game we've seen all season.
good job Colt.
a quick question, who do you think will be the bigger future NFL bust, McCoy or James Laurinaitis aka the Teddy Bruschi of college football (meaning overrated linebacker and king of jumping on the pile for gang tackles)? actually when i think about it long and hard Laurinaitis is the PERFECT man to replace Brushci as the Pats slowish white middle linebacker that ESPN sucks off. Make this happen New England. the Internet commands it.
in summation this bowl season has taught me a valuable lesson...the Big 12 is OVERRATED as hell. Okie State and Texas Tech both got exposed, Mizzou took a miracle to beat Northwestern, and nobody cares about the rest of the teams in that conference. hell the Pac 10 and Big 10 (ok i am lying about this one) have done way more to impress me than the No Defense 12. Florida should run Oklahoma off the damn field.
