Camzilla For Heisman

where the hell is Cam Newton’s Heisman love? dude is easily the best player in the SEC right now. he’s single handedly beaten Clemson and South Carolina (with a little help from Dyer and the Defense).

sure Denard Robinson is exciting and Andrew Luck has NFL #1 pick written all over him, but beating Notre Dame isn't exactly the most difficult thing in the world to do…but then again Sportswriters tend to be a lazy bunch. Newton is one of the most dangerous player in college football right now....give him some love damnit!

Auburn lands another QB who spells his name weird.

what is it about Auburn signing QBs with unusual spellings? Kodi, Tyrik, and now a Kiehl. hopefully this one works out better than the other two. so yeah i've been out of the loop a bit of late but stud recruit Kiehl Frazier committed to the Tigers this weekend. he was Auburn's #1 target and is ranked in the top 4 QBs in the nation. he's a dual threat and seems like a natural fit for the Auburn offense. Gus Malzahn was the key factor in Frazier picking Auburn over home state Arkansas and about 30 other DI schools (including LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas Tech, UCLA, and way more than i feel like naming). so again, keeping Malzahn around for another season will also be key for Auburn holding onto Frazier because if Gus skips town after the season for a head coaching job (seriously this is gonna be a source of anxiety every year regarding our offensive guru) then all bets are off. but right now we've got him.

Cam Newton named Auburn's #1 QB

As a surprise to exactly nobody, Coach Chizik named Cam Newton as Auburn's #1 QB post-Spring...which basically means he's gonna be the starting QB for 2010 unless he suddenly can't throw a football forwards or suffers some injury during fall practices.

this is yours now Auburn. be happy.

Josh McDaniels' Secret Revenge Plot to Destroy The Broncos

So is it just me or do you ever get the feeling that Josh McDaniels is secretly involving himself in a drawnout revenge plot against the Denver Broncos? Like maybe he's secretly a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan who never got over getting beaten by those Elway teams back in the 80s (like most Browns fans haven't...that was your best team ever) and so McDaniels worked hard and became a hotshot offensive coordinator so he'd one day be able become Denver's headcoach and then slowly but surely would trade away their two best players in Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshal and then shockingly draft Tim "I love jesus a lot but can't really throw a football properly" Tebow to sink the franchise into the sort of misery that only the Browns and Lions can understand. Maybe I'm wrong...but it's my theory. Call me nuts but It honestly makes way more sense than what is going on.

In Defense Of Jason Campbell (and all young NFL QBs)

well that's probably that for former Auburn QB and one time 1st round draft pick Jason Campbell. just call it another young NFL QB that gets thrown onto the trash heap because he can't overcome his team's shortcomings, poor drafting, bad free agent moves, and lousy coaching. why teams even bother drafting quarterbacks in the 1st round anymore is kind of beyond me. if you look at all the 1st round QB picks of the last decade less than half of them made it as a starter and of that half most aren't even with their original team. Campbell will now be strapped with the BUST tag even if he showed steady improvement (despite not having much of a line or receiving corp) but he just doesn't have that IT quality to be a super star in a league and division obsessed with quarterbacks. when Washington hired Mike Shanahan i thought finally Campbell would have the coach who could take him and turn him into the type of QB that i have long imagined he could be...but the temptation of the quick fix of landing an aging (and often injured) veteran like McNabb was just too much to pass up. sure i may be biased as an Auburn fan but i really doubt this move is going to do more than make the Redskins a .500 team for a couple of seasons. more than likely Campbell is going to get cut or traded before the draft and then Washington will be just a McNabb injury (which you and i both know will happen) away from having Sexy Rexy Grossman as their starting QB.

with some luck on Campbell's part he'll end up getting picked up by a team with a solid veteran QB who needs a quality backup with some NFL starting experience and a stable coaching staff and he can learn for a few more seasons and then get his shot again in a few years...but considering the way the NFL views former 1st round QBs who didn't stick around with the team that drafted them it could be the end of his career. what a bunch of bullshit. i hate the NFL.

So Long and Thanks For the Facebook posts

Tyrik Rollison (did i spell that right? do i even give a shit anymore) is saying, "peace out Tigers" and transferring to Sam Houston State.

The former would be savior of the Auburn football team was last years biggest signing from a fan stand point and his poor grasp of the English language was always a source of entertainment for me on facebook. And now he's gone. THIS is why you should NEVER get too excited about a high school kid who signs with your school before he has ever played a game.

I'm sure the older elements of the Tiger fanbase will have some less than flattering things to say but I've always tried to be rational in matters like this. If the kid doesn't wanna be here than let him go. He wasn't gonna start next year anyways and he's already had a suspension and grade issues. If there is one position where grade issues should be a concern it's your fucking QB.

Dramarama before the spring game is always a good way to get me thinking about football again.

The Chiz Grounded Rollison

Way To Go, Tyrik. whatever the fuck you did. (gettin' in fights, bad grades, smokin' weed, gun running, whatever). i'm gonna go out on a limb and assume it's grades based on his grammatical prose via the ole' facebook. but for reals, this is why redshirting kids is bad, they get bored and into trouble. let's all hope this isn't then end for our QB savior to be...cuz if it is then we will be plenty fucked in 2011, if not 2010.

and coach, quit kicking everyone off the team, damnit. i respect your whole discipline thing blah blah blah, but QBs are supposed to get away with whatever they want. don't you think Les Miles wishes he still had Ryan Perrilloux?

A Final Salute To The One Armed Zombie

CHRIS TODD, MOTHERFUCKER!!!! Auburn's ALL TIME Single Season TD Passing Leader. wrap your brain around that little nugget. and here we all thought that the fucker's arm had fallen off for good last year. good job, Todd, my boy. i enjoyed the shit sandwich you fed me this year.

you were the 3rd rated passer in the SEC this year, 4th in TDs, 6th in yards, completed nearly 60% of your passes for an avg. of 8 per pass (3rd in SEC), you only threw 6 INTS (tied for 3rd among regular starters), and you led the 3rd ranked offense in the league. i know Mallett and Tebow are gonna be the 1st and 2nd team QBs but if Todd isn't 3rd team All-SEC this year then it's some bullshit.

do i think Todd has an NFL Future? eh, probably not. but he was a lot better a college QB than i would have ever imagined. i wish this was the guy he would've been last year. but whatever, everything happens for a reason....or some shit.

One Armed Zombie We Salute You! let's hope you can lead us out with a bowl win and you toss a couple more TDs to Darvin Adams for your swan song.

Reality Check

so with Chris Todd reverting back to the one armed guy who sucked from last year, a lot of Auburn fans on the web are calling for Neil Caudle to be named starter. i don't know if i need to mention this, but he barely beat out Tyrik Rollison for the backup spot...and that's only because the staff wanted to redshirt Rollison. i've seen Neil Caudle play in person in Spring games and in mop up duty...if there is one thing i've come to know about our boy Neil is that he loves to throw some motherfucking interceptions.

Auburn would be better off letting Kodi finish the year again than throwing Caudle out there to create turnovers. Kodi can throw interceptions, but he might just be able to beat a team with his legs like he almost did last year vs. UGA. or better yet, just fucking stick with Todd and hope he can get it back together. switching QBs didn't work last year...what the hell makes any of you think it's going to work this year?

and i don't wanna hear about all this loyalty horse shit and how Caudle was an Elite 11 QB recruit. the dude got hurt his senior year of highschool and hasn't played a meaningful snap since. he couldn't beat out Kodi Burns in the spring and Kodi can't hit water falling out of a fucking boat. he nearly got beat out by a true freshmen this year. if Barrett Trotter wasn't injured i have no doubt he'd be the backup. let's just face it, Caudle isn't any good...cuz if he was then he'd be the damn QB already.

stick with the fucking zombie Todd and let's hope the running game will be good enough to get us 2 more wins and then next season we start all over again.

Those Rednecks in North Florida Are Gonna Be Fucking Stoked If This Happens

i just wanna go on record that my friend Mike and I called THIS 2 years ago.

so apparently the Jaguars are already thinking about drafting Football Jesus to help bring fans back to their boring team. i'd call this a no-brainer for at least the first couple of seasons until Tebow flames out and begins his quest to become either the new Jerry Falwell or a Republican Senator from the state of Florida and eventually the President.

We Have a Quarterback

according to this rivals.com article Tyrik Rollison is on campus at Auburn, has been cleared by the NCAA, and is now focusing on his upcoming freshman season on the Plains.

apparently he and Clint Mosely are going to be roommates and he says "It's been really good. I'm just ready to get to work."

SWEET!!!

so yeah...anybody want to take bets on how many games it takes next year before Rollison is the starter? i'm still not ready to say Auburn should give up on Kodi or Caudle but if Rollison is really all he's said to be i kinda doubt Coach Malzhan is gonna waste a year of his time with a redshirt. heck Baylor, LSU, and Ohio State all played their talented athletic QBs last year as true freshmen...no reason to think Auburn won't do the same thing in 09.

Tyrik still hasn't posted anything new on his facebook about this...but i'll let you folks know if that changes.

hey let's celebrate:
